The word “influential” gets thrown around loosely nowadays, but it’s fitting if you are the managing editor of the world’s largest newsroom, The Huffington Post. At the age of 26, Jimmy Soni, (now 27 years old), was appointed to the position by none other than Arianna Huffington herself, who is quite fond of the budding professional.

Soni was born in Toulouse, France and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. A George J. Mitchell Scholar, he attended and graduated from Duke University. His appetite for news, writing and technology landed him a few key roles at the beginning of his career, as a policy analyst, a speechwriter for the mayor of the District of Columbia, and a McKinsey consultant.

In 2012, Soni published his first book, Rome’s Last Citizen, a first-ever modern biography of Cato the Younger, Julius Caesar’s arch nemesis.

[blockquote]His writing and commentary has been published in The Huffington Post, The Atlantic, and Slate. Soni’s also been a guest on CNN and a speaker at TEDX Duke.[/blockquote]

He’s listed as one of Forbes ‘2013 Forbes 30 Under 30’ in the media category and in Crain’s ‘New York Business 2013 40 Under 40’.

We chatted on his trip to Toronto when he came to receive his much deserved award this past February at ANOKHI’s 11th anniversary event. Everything from writing his critically acclaimed book to bagging the much sought after role as Huffington Post’s managing editor, and a bit about women 🙂 check out one of Jimmy’s most revealing interviews to date.
