OC TV: Ontario Premier’s Take On India Trade Mission & Being A Woman

Media Open Chest TV Feb 19, 2016

Kathleen Wynne is Ontario’s 25th Premier and the first woman to serve in the role. She was first elected to the Ontario legislature in 2003 as the MPP for Don Valley West and became the leader of the Ontario Liberal Party in January 2013. Her extensive political career includes serving as Ontario’s Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Minister of Aboriginal Affairs, Minister of Transportation, Minister of Education and Minister of Agriculture and Food.

From January 27 to February 6, 2016, Premier Wynne led her first mission to India. The mission is expected to yield new agreements that will increase exports and draw on Ontario’s expertise in sustainable development and urban infrastructure. It will also help lay the foundations for future business deals and strengthen cultural ties between India and Ontario. The trip included stops in New Delhi, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Hyderabad and Mumbai to meet with key business leaders, investors and government officials.

[blockquote]These meetings were an opportunity for Ontario businesses to promote the province’s expertise, forge new partnerships and create a strong foothold in this important market.[/blockquote]

I had the opportunity to meet and speak with Premier Wynne days before she departed on her India Trade Mission journey where we sat down and spoke candidly about the purpose of the mission and how she hopes it strengthens the bonds between Canada and India. She also shed some wisdom for all the women out there who want to take action, and take charge of their lives in the hopes of accomplishing great things.

This is definitely a must watch interview.
