The prestigious Festival De Cannes is graced by some of the most celebrated cinema icons from across the globe. This year, Vidya Balan, one of Bollywood's most elegant and gorgeous actresses, dazzled at Cannes, as a member of the very select group of jurors.

Pankaj Surana, the Creative head of the House of Surana, from the legendary family of jewelers designed and curated jewellery under his personal label, which accentuated Vidya’s ensemble at the festival. In collaboration with leading fashion designer, Sabyasachi, Pankaj Surana created a glamorous, unforgettable look for Vidya’s appearance on the red carpet.

Drawing inspiration from his Rajasthani roots and Sabyasachi’s limited edition Maharani Gayatri Devi collection, Pankaj designed exquisite traditional and contemporary Indian jewellery for Vidya. Among the jewels designed by Pankaj, the emphasis has been on simplicity and elegance. Traditional elements are merged with bold colors and layering to give a purist yet avant-garde feel.

 
The high profile collaboration showcased the confluence of important elements of Indian Heritage and culture on the international red carpet. An elegant tribute to Indian royalty’s iconic figure, Rajmata Gayatri Devi, this jewellery  also exemplifed Vidya’s beauty and grace at the festival.
 
A scion of one of the founding families of Jaipur, Pankaj Surana represents the 10th generation of the iconic Surana lineage. As creative and managing director of the House of Surana, Pankaj lends a modern aesthetic to the brand’s signature style of antique and jadau fine jewellery.

Currently, he is also launching a new flagship boutique, called House of Surana, in an elegant salon in Worli, Mumbai.

Academically, Pankaj Surana has done his business degree at the New York University’s Stern School of Business And earned a post-graduate degree in gemology from the Gemological Institute of America. His designs combine traditional Indian forms, such as meenakari and jadau, with an international aesthetic and workmanship developed over the 20 years of his life he spent working with the best artisans in New York and Europe.
